Republic of Muamba
The Republic of Muamba (République du Muamba) is a fictional country found in the 2001 version of Cyborg 009, and the homeland of Pyunma/008. Because we're not given much information other than a general location of "West Africa," playing as Pyunma from the 2001 series has required inventing some details about the country.
(Unfortunately, I started playing him in Site B before the Archaia version of Cyborg 009 came out and gave Pyunma's home as Ivory Coast, or I would have used that, instead of inventing a whole new country! However, the way I've played him has involved that homeland, though it hasn't specifically been named yet. Still, I'll be working in Ivory Coast- like details into the information now. And in future games, his home will be named as Ivory Coast.)
Muamba is a small country located between Benin and Nigeria in West Africa. The country is a long strip of land reaching down toward the ocean, and is roughly 60,000 km of land. The majority of the country's GDP comes from mining, in the form of gold and iron ore. Muamba also has a small reserves of petroleum, along with tin, zinc, and limestone. Most of the farming in the nation is subsistence farming, although there is also export in the form of crops like cocoa, and cotton. The main crop for subsistence farming is pearl millet.
Although Muamba began as a colony, and for the first five years of the country's history was a dictatorship, the government now is a constitutional republic, with a president elected for a five-year term and a unicameral parliament. (Who knows how many political parties there are. I don't. More than two, though.)
Official language is French, although thanks to the nearby presence of Nigeria, some citizens know English as well. Native languages are still spoken in most areas. A majority of the country speaks Yoruba, with areas in the north speaking Baatọnun, the Mande language Bokobaru, some Plateau languages such as Tsuvadi, with Hausa spoken in the far north.
The currency is the CFA Franc, as Muamba is a part of the Communauté Financière d'Afrique ("Financial Community of Africa").
There are two main national holidays in Muamba- Independence Day, which celebrates independence from Glutonia, and Republic Day, which celebrates the overthrowing of the dictator Unbaba.
The national flag looks like this:
In the flag, the red represents the blood spilled in the fight for freedom, the green represents the country's agriculture and forests, and the yellow represents the country's rich mineral resources. These colors and symbolism are shared with other West African countries, namely Ghana, Benin, Guinea, and several others.
In the Capitol, there is a plaque that lists all of the soldiers who fought against Unbaba. The names of all of the 00 number cyborgs can be found on it.
